[13:33:16] <bje> rdap query: waiting on bootstrap, relatively straightforward changes on how to find base url; ticket 19 will cause an open dependency on http/2.0 -13 draft
[13:36:02] <Andrew Sullivan> I hate Pete's suggestion, but I'm not going to the mic.  But yuck.
[13:36:36] <resnick> It amounts to "Let the RFC Editor straighten it out. We know what *we* mean."
[13:37:41] <Andrew Sullivan> That's why I hate it.  The WG knows that it needs the simple cases.  Why are we trying to be clever?
[13:37:59] <bje> aren’t we simply trying to avoid hiccups in the process?
[13:38:11] <bje> ticket 19 was opened during review last time
[13:38:20] <Andrew Sullivan> That's why I'm not going to the mic :)
[13:38:42] <bje> next topic: routing policy
[13:38:50] <Meetecho Scribe> Presentation is over
[13:39:00] <resnick> @ajs: Having references to obsoleted documents is going to cause certain types of folks heartburn. I'm all for avoiding it.

[13:58:27] <resnick> Adding on to Andrew: We could...you know....publish a document with such knowledge. :-)
[13:58:42] <resnick> (No, it doesn't have to be an RFC, but *somewhere*.)
[14:02:11] <Klensin> Pete, one could also put a simple acknowledgment in one of the base docs, that says "interoperability work by...  helped with this spec" or words to that effect.  My recollection is that we've done that before (although probably not recently).
[14:02:47] <Andrew Sullivan> It wasn't the ack that I was hoping for, but capturing those "common bugs"
[14:02:59] <bje> (if you want anything at the mic, let me know, but I think you’re all in the room :-)
[14:03:10] <Klensin> Ah.  Different subthread.  Sorry.
[14:03:48] Suz leaves the room
[14:04:14] <Andrew Sullivan> Maybe I've been burned by this too often because of too much experience with DNS, but I just _hate_ the problem that "everyone knows" that the first time you implement something you implement $samebug, and it seems to me that "Common pitfalls when implementing $protocol" is not a bad thing to write down given the interop experience
[14:05:13] <Andrew Sullivan> But I get it that people don't want to be nibbled to death by ducks (I had to fix that vowel in the first pass) when writing it down
[14:05:14] <Meetecho Scribe> Slide 1: undefined
[14:05:17] <Meetecho Scribe> Slide 12: AOB

[14:05:32] <Klensin> Agree completely.    If you look early in the RFC series, you will actually find a lot of "we screwed this up, other people should make different mistakes" stuff.
[14:06:34] <Klensin> We've lost some of that as our focus has shifted, IMO, to "standards creation" from "engineering and design of interoperable protocols"
