[17:50:42] <Giles Heron> hypervisors have limitations today where only support 8 or 10 VNICs.  So there's a need to support multiple VNs on the same VNIC.  Also each VN may have multiple MACs (e.g. tenant system that's bridging e.g. for transparent firewall - all the MACs you're bridging for will appear on the VAP and need to be communicated to the NVE) or multiple IPs (e.g. virtual load balancer with multiple IPs for the various virtual servers).
