[18:05:10] Unrelated, but while you're here: would you want to collaborate formulating an HTML 4.01 erratum with respect to head/@profile? [18:06:09] you mean change the specification so it allows multiple references separated by white space? [18:06:33] Yes. And state that all of them are significant. [18:07:04] It appears having that erratum -- even if the W3C doesn't know how to publish it -- would help with the related discussions in HTML5. [18:07:25] doesn [18:07:35] 't that drop the attirbute? [18:07:59] Yes, and I think it shouldn't, until there's a replacement, and there also needs to be a transition period. [18:08:31] http://www.w3.org/html/wg/tracker/issues/55 [18:08:58] most recently: http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-html/2009May/0191.html [18:09:09] I understand the idea is that you'd just use the attribute. Content conformance requirements are just there so Validator's can teach authors best coding practises. [18:09:58] So what's the best coding practice, if you can't use the attribute, or can't put two URIs into it? [18:10:17] See http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1264455&group_id=27659&atid=390963 :-) [18:10:27] I'll tell you in 2022? :) [18:10:46] We should be able to do better than that? [18:10:48] ! [18:11:12] As far as I understood your comments in the "tidy" issue, what you're waiting for is that the W3C fixes the spec. [18:11:27] I want that to happen as well, but before 2022. [18:14:32] A HTML 4.01 erratum would go like this: add paragraph to 6.4 defining the uri-list type. Change 13.3 to reference that definition. Update DTDs to define a parameter entity for the type. Update 7.4.1 so profile has the type uri-list. Update DTDs so all uri-type attributes reference the uri-list param entity. remove "For future extensions, ..." from profile definition. ... [18:14:59] ... update the Meta data profiles section accordingly [18:15:11] Ok, thanks a lot. I may try that. [18:15:50] (the last one probably just needs to make singular into plural, and say that if there is a conflict among profiles, the results are undefined) [18:16:00] (or first one wins or whatever) [21:38:44] Bjoern Hoehrmann leaves the room [21:54:55] Julian Reschke leaves the room
